J Perkins Twister 3D (ARTF)
The fabulous new Twister 3D has been designed to fly aerobatic and 3D manoeuvres using the latest generation of high power motors and lithium polymer battery packs.
The key to good flight performance in this class is a lightweight, strong design coupled with a state-of the-art CCPM control system with strong friction-eliminating and slop-reducing components, for example, the 2mm shaft tail drive is supported by no less than 4 precision ball bearings and even the tail pitch change bellcrank alone houses 2 ball bearings!
A CCPM control system means the servos can be directly connected to the swashplate hence eliminating many levers and linkages, reducing complexity and weight whilst improving control quality at the same time. This quality and precision provides the high degree of main control response, rapier-sharp tail control and amazingly long flight times that will set the standard for future micro helicopter designs.
The Twister 3D is assembled with motor installed, servos fitted and pushrods connected. Four precision EnErG micro servos are installed and all linkages are fitted. Despite it's specialist engineering and expert-class components, the Twister 3D demonstrates outstanding hovering stability with the flybar weights moved outboard along the flybar.These adjustable weights give even relatively inexperienced pilots the chance to achieve success and to set their own learning curve as they move the weights further inboard to achieve more powerful control responses - or move them out when the handling is too quick to be comfortable.
